Possibility to visit the Karlskirche
We have managed to secure for all members of the wedding party free entry as to the sights in the Church.
You will have the chance to visit one of the most significant sacred buildings of the Baroque era. In 1713, one year after the last major plague epidemic in Vienna, Charles VI, Holy Roman Emperor, pledged to build a church dedicated to his namesake patron saint, Charles Borromeo, who was revered as a healer for plague sufferers.
The colorful dome fresco, colossal marble pilasters, and the feeling of "ascending to heaven" are palpable throughout the church, culminating in the imposing high altar. Experience previously inaccessible areas, see the organ up close, and enjoy a unique panoramic view over the city's rooftops.
The ticket booth has a list of names.
And check out our priest on Instagram as he presents the church:

We are trying to organise a special entry for all invitees. So if you are interested to check it out before the wedding ceremony, please let us know. It will make organisation easier. See here: https://karlskirche.eu/geschichte-der-karlskirche/

Any
tips on what to do in Vienna?
Absolutely! Here are some ideas:
• The Belvedere. The former summer residence of Prince Eugene. His winter residence is today the Ministry of Finance.
• Take a ride around the city center in a tram. You can see major sights this way.
• A stroll through the historic city center heading to the Burggarten. A public park in the inner city, the first district of Vienna. The park was built for the royal family after the destruction of the city fortifications by Napoleon.
• Coffee & cake at a traditional Viennese coffee house like Café Heiner.
• Explore the newly renovated Parliament of Austria
• A visit to a Heuriger (local wine tavern) on the outskirts of Vienna. Yes, Vienna is a wine region.
Let us know if you'd like personalized tips — we're happy to help!
Can I bring my children?
Of course! Just let us know in advance so we can plan accordingly.
Are there playgrounds?
Yes, right outside the church there are two and across from the Hoxton is the Stadtpark. It may be a little walk but it sure is fun. Markus tested it decades ago.
What should I do with the invitation card?
You can plant it. It's embedded with wildflower seeds. Water, wait, and watch love grow. (No pressure if it just turns into herbs.) Further information: https://bluehwerk-papeterie.at/pflanzanleitung-3/
Is there a budget for the wedding? And who approved it?
Yes — just like the EU budget, it required months of negotiation, careful compromises… and the level of payments is near the ceiling. So we will see if special instruments could be mobilized. 😅
